Welcome to the official website of the Global Research on Emerging Economies Conference, which will be held during November 16 and 17, 2018, in Lima, Peru.

This conference will bring together researchers interested in Applied Finance, Applied Economics, Management, Marketing and other topics related to Emerging Markets. Participants are invited to submit their individual papers for presentation or to propose an entire panel consisting of four papers.

The aim of the conference is to bring together economists from different fields of Emerging and Developing Economies Research in order to share ideas.
Topics to be considered at the conference include, but are not limited to:

  • Impact of the global financial crisis on the real and financial sectors
  • Regional economic integration and the cross-border trade and investment among Latin American economies and between advanced (i.e. USA) and Latin American economies
  • Country-specific studies on financial market reforms, industrial and technology sectors, foreign trade and investment regimes, etc.
  • Vulnerabilities in Latin American economies and policy options
  • Monetary and fiscal policies and their interactions and effects on real economy and financial markets

Papers presented at the conference will be considered for publication (subject to double-blind reviewing process) in a special issue of Emerging Markets Finance and Trade, http://www.tandfonline.com/loi/mree20

Ali M. Kutan, Editor of Emerging Markets Finance and Trade will give a workshop on "how to publish in top economics and business journals", targeted towards young scholars and doctoral students.

Paper submission should be made by using conference maker, please consider Chicago style citation and English language for your manuscript.

The 2018 Global Research on Emerging Economies Conference will take place at Universidad ESAN.

Fees & Registration

Regular Fee

•  Early bird: USD 400 (until September 14, 2018)
•  Late registration: USD 450 (between September 15 and October 15, 2018)


The registration fee covers conference materials, coffee breaks and lunches.


The registration fee also includes a one-year membership in the Society for the Study of Emerging Markets (SSEM). Membership in the SSEM provides an online subscription to the Emerging Markets Finance and Trade and waives the submission fee during the membership period.

Special Fee (only for students)

•  USD 100 (registration until October 31, 2018)


The special fee for students covers conference materials, coffee breaks and lunches. This special fee does not cover membership in the SSEM and does not allow the student to present a paper.


First, the student has to send an email to informes_investigacion@esan.edu.pe with a picture of the student ID for validation. After its validation, the student may register at the special rate with the validation code that we will send. This special fee is not transferable.
